What the Fathers say
Western Saints
Jerome
Because the Lord says these things to the eunuchs: If they keep my Sabbaths, and choose what I desire, and hold fast to my covenant, I will give them a place in my house and within my walls, and a better name than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off. …
Thomas Aquinas
Second, he sets out the promise: for thus says the Lord. And first, in those things pertaining especially to eunuchs: they that shall keep my sabbaths, as to religious worship, and shall choose the things that please me, as to obedience of the law, and shall hold fast my covenant, as to observance of the promise to abstain from evils.
