Observe again how he speaks covertly concerning Christ's power, showing that He raised Himself: just as in his first discourse he had said, "Because it was not possible that He should be holden of it," so here he says, "And killed the Prince of Life." It follows that the Life He had was not from another. The prince (or author) of evil would be he that first brought forth evil; the prince or author of murder, he who first originated murder; so also the Prince (or Author) of Life must be He Who has Life from Himself. …

Oecumenius

Saying, "the Author of life," he shows that Christ himself raised himself. But he does not ground the resurrection on the testimonies of prophets; rather, since he was credible to them, he grounds it on the band of the apostles. And when he has suspended the charge, he grieves intensely, then again relaxes, urging them to repentance, because the sin was out of ignorance and folly, and because what had been ordained from the beginning and spoken through the prophets was not to be passed over. …
