Third, he promises liberation from punishments: arise; and concerning this, he does two things: first, he shows their past affliction; second, he promises liberation. 936. Concerning the first, he does three things. First, he shows the sum of their punishment: you have drunk even to the bottom, as if to say, you have endured unto the last of your punishments; sleep, that is, death: in the hand of the Lord there is a cup of strong wine full of mixture (Ps 74:9[74:8]).
