What the Fathers say

Isaiah 3:14

Western Saints

Thomas Aquinas

Second, the matter is introduced; hence he says: the Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, namely, with the priests, and its princes, kings and leaders: behold I will judge between cattle and cattle, between rams and he goats (Ezek 34:17). Third, the cause is set out: and first, the accusation of the plaintiff is introduced, when he says, you have devoured: they have eaten the flesh of my people (Mic 3:3).
