Then when he says, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted," and so on, he assigns the reason for his prayer in two ways. First, he sets forth the prayer and its cause in general; second, he pursues both in detail, at "My eye is troubled." Concerning the first he does two things.
