Third, he describes the motion of the elephants which are said to have inflexible feet, shin bones and legs in order to sustain the weight of their body, and "they have solid bones without joints." To show this he says, "His bones are like tubes of bronze," because like tubes of bronze they cannot be bent. This refers to the exterior organs of motion which are the shin bones and the legs. …
